Welcome to Homeschooling Journeys
I’m Costa. I’m a hockey mom of three boys, a wife, and an elementary school teacher from Ontario.
After over 20 years in the school system, I never pictured myself homeschooling. But in 2021, we tried a homeschool pod, and it changed everything for us. My kids loved it. I loved it. It just felt… different in a good way.
So we kept going.
Now I homeschool my boys at home, sometimes with a friend or two joining us. Our days aren’t perfect, and they definitely don’t look like the ones you see online. Some days feel really good. Other days feel all over the place. That’s just part of it.
What I share here comes from both sides. I have the teaching background, and I also know what it feels like to sit at the table with your own kids and think, am I doing this right?
I’m trained in Reading Recovery and Orton-Gillingham, and a lot of my experience has been working with kids who struggle with reading or just need a different approach. That’s a big part of why I started sharing what I do—because I know how overwhelming it can feel when your child isn’t picking things up easily.
If you’re here, you’re probably trying to figure things out too. Where to start. What to teach. How to make your day work without it turning into a battle.
I don’t believe you need a perfect plan. You need something that works for your family.
So that’s what you’ll find here. Real ideas, simple routines, and support—especially if your child is struggling with reading or learning.
Nothing fancy. Just what actually works.
